Hawkeye commenced operations in the fall of 2011 and employs 25 people. The majority of the coal mined there is processed as raw material and blended with Knight Hawk's washed products at Lone Eagle Dock. This gives Knight Hawk the ability to offer a more cost-effective, higher-sulfur option to its customers. Coal that is not shipped raw is trucked for processing at the nearby Prairie Eagle preparation plant.
